Is it possible to ignore technology and, thanks to this, become invisible? The disappearance of a watchmaker, who lives secluded in an old house in the centre of Turin, would go unnoticed if a letter were not sent to the only inhabitant of the district with whom he sometimes talked. What did his monastic lifestyle hide? Why do a university professor and an English diplomat decide to go in search of him? Where will the traces of people without identities living on the margins of existence lead them? Around a symbol that has no place, the enigma is revealed in concentric circles. Unusual tools of investigation are the love for music, the secrets of typographic art, wandering through forgotten places... The fragments thus collected make up a mosaic that is not only virtual and literary. Anton Ivanovic, Joshua Momigliano, Brian Crain, Beatrice Della Rocca are pawns in a game played for a long time in a suspended atmosphere, the outcome of which, however, has the scabrous evidence of reality.
